Hi Friend,
Last week, God gave me a third daughter.
No, I'm not pregnant. I'm not adopting. And I don't have plans for either.
I was driving to our boathouse for a day of writing. As I rehearsed a workshop I'll be teaching at Grove Church in a few weeks, I found myself saying the words, "my three daughters and my son," instead of "my two daughters and my son."
It wasn't a simple slip of the tongue.
The moment those words left my mouth, they hit me. The weight of it felt physical. I immediately began to cry.
I actually had to stop speaking.
For someone who talks for a living, that's saying something.
It felt less like I had thought of those words and more like they were reality.
I picked up my phone, hit record, and started talking to God.
He was talking to me. So, I responded. I explained to Him what happened and then asked Him questions.
"What are You trying to show me?"
"What do You want me to know?"
"Where do You want me to look more deeply?"
I recorded every thought that came into my mind—whether it seemed profound, completely unrelated, or even a little crazy. I cried. I wrestled. I became vulnerable with my Teacher.
The truth is, I still don't know exactly what it means.
But I'm not anxious about it.
And I'm not dismissing it.
God has never asked me to figure everything out. He's asked me to stay close enough to hear His voice.
He will reveal what He wants me to know in His timing—not mine.
My responsibility is simply to keep showing up, asking, listening, and inviting Him into the conversation.
I wonder how many of us spend more time talking to ourselves than talking with God.
We strategize.
We worry.
We try to control outcomes.
We rehearse conversations.
But how often do we simply ask, "Lord, what do You want me to know about this?"
And then... stay quiet long enough to listen?
Hearing God rarely happens in the hustle. It happens in stillness. In worship. In prayer. In creating space where He is welcome to speak.
That moment with my "third daughter" happened while I was preparing to teach others about reducing stress and finding rest in the Lord. My heart was already fixed on Him, and He met me there.
If you're longing to hear God's voice more clearly, start by asking.
That's exactly why I've created a brand-new series on YouTube and inside my Membership.
Each day I'll walk with you through simple, Scripture-based questions you can ask the Lord during your quiet time. I'll guide you, encourage you, and help you learn how to settle your heart so you can better hear Him.
If you subscribe to my weekly emails, I'll also send you a free PDF with the first 21 guided questions.
Inside the Membership, you'll receive an additional 21 questions, access to "The Vault"—my growing library of coaching worksheets, bonus videos, workouts, sessions and wellness resources—and every Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. ET we'll gather live on Zoom for biblical wellness coaching, Q&A, prayer, and encouragement.
I'd love for you to join us.

Most of all, today, before you make another plan...
Ask the Lord what He wants you to know.
Then be still.
He is speaking.
And hey, if he tells you what the heck, He means by my third daughter please let me know. 😁
Xoxo,
Be well, Kerstin
Spotlight On Brain Health from StRest
My mom died from Alzheimer's, and because the connection between brain health and sleep is so important, I protect my sleep like my life depends on it.
One of my favorite tools is my VivaRays Circadian Glasses. Sleep is when your brain repairs, clears away waste, and produces its own melatonin—a powerful antioxidant that supports your body's overnight restoration.
The problem? Most of us spend our evenings under artificial light from phones, TVs, and LEDs that signal to our brains it's still daytime, disrupting our natural sleep cycle.
That's why I wear my VivaRays Bonfire lenses at sunset and switch to the red lenses about an hour before bed. Along with getting morning sunlight, it's one of my non-negotiable daily habits for supporting healthy sleep and long-term brain health.
If healthy aging matters to you too, I've linked VivaRays below use code Kerstin20.
