This week on StRest, I sat down with Chalene Johnson (remember her!? From PiYo!), and her message couldn't be more timely. At what she calls "Level 57," Chalene is stronger, happier, and more excited about life than she was during the height of her fitness career.
This woman is so honest.
Chalene shared why she walked away from a wildly successful fitness empire when she realized the results being promised to women didn't match reality. We talked about body image, overtraining, the pressure to stay small, and why so many women tie their worth to a number on the scale.
We also tackled some of the biggest conversations happening in health right now, including GLP-1 medications, muscle loss, sleep trackers, hormone replacement therapy, protein, creatine, and the importance of lifting heavy as we age.
But my favorite part of the conversation had nothing to do with fitness.
Chalene shared what women in their 70s, 80s, and even 90s taught her about aging well. Their advice was simple: keep moving, invest in your friendships, and never assume your most meaningful work is behind you.
One woman she mentions started her first business at 89.
